Open the downloaded file

Pull down your notification shade and tap the download notification, or open Files / My Files app and find whatisthatbug.apk.

Allow install from this source (first time only)

Android will ask you to allow your browser to install apps. Tap Settings → enable the toggle → go back. This is a one-time prompt; nothing gets changed permanently.

Quick questions

Yes. No signup, no trial, no paywall. We show a banner ad on result screens and an occasional interstitial. That's it.

Identification needs internet because the AI runs on our servers. Browsing bugs you've already identified and your favorites works offline.

The APK is signed with the same key we submit to Google Play. You can verify the package name (com.whatisthatbug.app) matches our Play listing once it's live.

iOS version is on the roadmap. For now, the website at whatisthatbug.com works great on iPhone browsers.

Photos you identify are sent to our server to run AI, then stored anonymously to improve accuracy. We never share them. See our privacy policy.
